An acclaimed Chinese printmaker, Xiang Silou will be our first visiting artist. He will be working on new woodblock prints in our newly created visiting artist studio during the month of April, 2016. Our students will be participating in his project and workshop. We will host a solo exhibition of his prints in the Faculty Gallery at the end of his residency.
UCSC Arts Division Assistant Professor Enrique Leal and Sesnon Gallery Director Shelby Graham met with the University of Castilla La Mancha’s Contemporary Arts Archives & Collections research team this summer to initiate a interuniversity collaborative project that includes curating a selection of the CAAC heritage resources to be exhibited at UCSC’s Sesnon Gallery.
The architectural plan is now in the process of finalization for the update of our current print media studio and for the creation of the research center/visiting artist studio! Stay tuned~
